heart/h

A fireplace built from reclaimed bricks, borrowed knowledge, converging timelines, aching muscles, childcare arrangements, YouTube tutorials, conversations with strangers, trips to Bunnings, and countless unseen acts of support.

Hearth not as an object but a gathering of relations. Part structure, part ritual, part social vessel, it asks, what is the heart that keeps us alive?

what does a good mother look like?

a photograph. a portrait. a mother, me, sits in the heart of the home, on a step stool. background sits as the water under the ripple. the walls i painted, the cabinet my father built, the children's painting on the table, the dishes, the bottle of vanilla essence left out from pancake making.
